Photographer : Terry Bach

Artist's Biography:
A passion for sailing was the catalyst that sparked Terry’s love for taking photographs. It was years ago, while sailing around the Thousand Islands of New York, he first felt the real inspiration to take his hobby of picture taking to the next level. “To watch the first glimpse of the sun rise out of the water at dawn on its way to climax with the blue backdrop of midday, then ultimately vanish into the sea producing awe inspiring colors and contrast that one could only dream of replicating by hand…that can inspire anyone.” To be able to accurately record and share the beauty of sky meeting water and land, along with the interaction of wildlife is the goal. Besides the occasional straightening and cropping, all of Terry’s images remain untouched, attempting to capture as accurately as possible exactly what nature was displaying at that moment. When speaking of landscape photography he states, “the moment an image is manipulated the essence of the scene is defeated. Nature is beautiful on its own, it needs no assistance.”When asked about his specific technique he states, “Just find your frame, adjust your settings, and be patient…when the moment you want to capture presents itself, press the button. We are constantly bombarded by beautiful imagery… just slow down, keep your eyes open, and don’t overlook the seemingly simple things.”
Terry is currently a wooden boat builder with East Passage Boatwrights in Bristol, RI. There, he works alongside a tight knit group of talented individuals restoring classic wooden yachts to their original splendor.
